Today Year 5 had a Victorian Bake off, Two teams prepared and cooked a main course of Beef stew with dumplings or Hotch Potch. Then both teams made a victoria sponge for pudding. The children learnt so much from this experience including; how to safely transport and use the peelers and sharp knifes, the correct way to chop vegetables using the bridge technique, ways to organise team work and steps to take in the right order, they had to weigh ingredients, crack eggs and do all the washing up at the end. They enjoyed it all but especially the tasting part. It was all delicious!
